Independent Art (Anti-Photographers)

The role of a photographer and the impact he has is once again tested and studied in this essay. I liked how this essay took different stances with each, pushing the limits of where the art lay: in the photographer (his mind, his vision), the subject being photographed, or the photograph itself. After reading it, I am still unsure of how Nancy Foote feels about it. Assuming from her title, anti- photographers could be a clear sign that its no the photographer, as she (or they) want to push the magic away from being in the photographers, to the extent that "its irrelevant whether or not they take their own pictures". The photographers hand means nothing in this essay. No longer are we sucked into the "reproduction" threat.. "what it reveals becomes important, not what it is". The art is finally independent. It is now definitely not a science. It does not matter who took the picture. It makes no difference whether or not it is a reproduction (in some cases, the reproduction is where the art lays).  This essay was a great way to throw us off, it was pretty refreshing.
